India’s middle-order batter Suryakumar Yadav is currently enjoying the form of his life as he played yet another sensational knock during the 2nd T20I match against South Africa in Guwahati on Sunday. SKY wreaked havoc against the South African bowlers as he rained fours and sixes at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
Walking out to bat at number 4, Suryakumar Yadav smashed the ball around the mark to score an 18-ball half-century. He smashed 5 fours and as many sixes en route to his blazing knock, scoring 61 off just 22 deliveries before being run out by Temba Bavuma.
After openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul were dismissed, Suryakumar Yadav kept the momentum going and he was the reason why India was able to keep their scoring rate intact. SKY alongwith Virat Kohli added 102 runs to help India post a humongous total of 237/3.
Meanwhile, Suryakumar’s form is one of the biggest positives for India ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. As the marquee event is just around the corner, everyone is well aware just how crucial the form of SKY is going to be. Hence, during the post-match presentation, Harsha Bhogle asked Rohit: “How do you keep Surya’s form together? The form he is in… just protect it. How do you hold it together?”
Responding to this, Rohit Sharma came up with an epic reply as he showered praises on Surya. He said: “Just thinking not to play him anymore. Just play him on 23rd. But no (seriously), the kind of form he is in… he is somebody who wants to play the game, who wants to keep going out there and keep doing well. That is what keeps him happy and we want to keep him happy,”
He added: “We were batting first, so it was very clear that I had to keep the tempo that was set by Rahul and Rohit and I just went and enjoyed myself. He (Miller) batted beautifully and I loved it. You just have to be planning really well when you are having the practice sessions (about second-guessing the bowlers). When you are batting first, you can’t set a target and you just got to bat as deep as possible and get as many runs as possible,”
