Who is Jaydev Shah?: Rohit Sharma has had a stunning start to his full-time India captaincy stint. Clean sweeps over New Zealand in T20I, followed by ODI and T20I series wins over West Indies, and then another 3-0 emphatic triumph against neighbours Sri Lanka.
His next assignment will be captaining India in Test matches for the first time, in the upcoming 2-Test series against Sri Lanka.
One incident that happened after the series win over Sri Lanka in Dharamsala has got the fans wondering: skipper Rohit Sharma won the Paytm trophy and handed it over to Jaydev Shah, who seemed reluctant in holding the trophy, before handing it to the youngsters.

So who is Jaydev Shah?
Jaydev Shah is the son of former BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah, and the president of the SCA (Saurashtra Cricket Association). He was also the BCCI representative for the series between India and Sri Lanka
Jaydev is a domestic Indian stalwart. The left-handed batter amassed over 5000 first-class runs, with a best of 217, and over 1200 List-A runs. He recorded 12 domestic centuries.
A former Saurashtra captain, Jaydv Shah, in 2015, broke the record for the most number of Ranji Trophy matches as captain, when he went past Ravinder Chadha’s tally of 83 matches as Haryana captain.
It was under his captaincy that Saurashtra won the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2007-08, which further led to the selectors naming him the captain for India A’s tour of Israel in July 2008. He also took Saurashtra to the finals in the 2012-13 and 2015-16 seasons.
Jaydev Shah has also earned IPL contracts with Rajasthan Royals, Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, and Gujarat Lions, but never got the chance to make his IPL debut.
