Rohit Sharma Points Out The Biggest Difference In MS Dhoni’s Captaincy

India’s vice-captain Rohit Sharma, whose career saw a massive upthrust after being promoted to open in limited-overs cricket, has heaped praises on former Indian skipper MS Dhoni. Rohit, who has always credited Dhoni for his success in the ODIs, feels that the Ranchi-born lad is the best captain that India has ever seen. There’s no doubt the amount of success that India witnessed under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. Ever since 2007, when Dhoni first led India in the victorious T20 World Cup campaign in South Africa, the ‘Men in Blue’ had a successful run for a period of the next five years.

Under him, India won the CB Series in 2008, which was followed by an overseas Test series win in New Zealand in 2009. In 2011, Dhoni also led India to a World Cup triumph after 28 years. Known as the ‘Captain Cool’, Dhoni even managed to lead a young Indian outfit to a Champions Trophy win in England in 2013.

Talking about his former skipper, Rohit Sharma said that the 38-year old is a quintessential example who has inspired a host of cricketers of his generation. Rohit even alluded to his success attained at the international level as well as the captain of his IPL franchise.

“MS Dhoni is the one who has been like that. It’s in-born. It has helped him to make such good decisions on the field and now you see he is the most successful Indian captain with all three ICC trophies with him and many IPL titles as well. He is the best captain India has seen and there’s a reason behind it – which is being calm and composed under a situation,” Rohit Sharma said in one of the episodes of Curly Tales.

Rohit Sharma said he admires the way MS Dhoni handles bowlers and helps them in overcoming pressure situations.

“I have seen him handle a lot of young bowlers when they get under pressure, he just goes and puts his arm around them and talk to them about what needs to be done. When a younger player is treated like that by a senior member of the team, you obviously feel confident and you want to deliver for the team,” Rohit Sharma added.
