India’s performance on this tour of South Africa was nothing short of stellar and sensational. The test series loss would be a little disappointed for team India but then ever since the third test, India has dominated with authority. India first won the ODI series and now the T20 series too has too ended with India on the winning side.
Captain Rohit Sharma Hails Bowlers
In the absence of Virat Kohli, the captaincy responsibility was on Rohit Sharma. Rohit might have not done much with the bat but his captaincy was spot on. Defending 172, Rohit said that the team did fall short of about 15 runs but the bowlers did the job. Rohit Sharma heaped praises on the new ball ballers. Here’s what he said
To be honest, we were 15 runs short. Because the way the first half went, I thought we lost our way in the end. These things happen and we learn from it. I thought it was a decent score and the bowlers did the job for us.
I hope games like these teach us a lot of things. We discussed certain plans and it worked today. The idea was to keep the ball on the stumps and we kept it tight in the first six overs. Credit to the new-ball bowlers. It was a complete bowling performance.
We will take these limited-overs trophies, throughout the series we played with a lot of aggression. As a group, we never back down from any situation. That is the reason we are standing here as winners.
Indeed, the bowlers have been the biggest positive for India to take back from South Africa. India’s bowling has never looked so clinical. Now Indian bowlers have started to compliment India’s batting and this would worry all the teams around.
Now India would be eyeing to win the Nidahas Trophy that is to be played from 6 March to 18 March in Sri Lanka. Here too Rohit would reportedly lead India as the senior players will be rested.
