Indian captain Rohit Sharma hailed Rinku Singh after the team’s triumph in the third T20I against Afghanistan. Rohit Sharma praised Singh’s maturity and composure, recognizing his smooth transition from the IPL to donning the Indian jersey.

India won against Afghanistan in the second super-over in Bengaluru. In the first super over, both teams scored 16 runs. In the second super over, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi bowled well, and Afghanistan managed to score only one run.

Meanwhile, after India’s win in the game, Rohit Sharma was all praises for Rinku Singh. He said:

“Creating the partnership was important and we (Rinku and I) kept talking to each other to not lose that intent in big games and it was a good game for us to be in, the pressure was there, and was important to bat long and deep and not compromise on the intent we want to show,”

He added: “The last couple of series that he played, he showed what he can do with the bat. Very calm and knows his strength pretty well. He is coming of age and doing what is expected of him and he has done well for India. It augurs well for the team moving forward, wanted someone like that at the backend and we know what he has done in the IPL and he has carried that to the Indian colors as well,”

Facing a challenging situation with India at 22/4, Rinku Singh partnered with Rohit Sharma to form an unbeaten 190-run stand for the fifth wicket. Rinku played an impressive innings, scoring 69 runs off 39 balls at a strike rate of 176.92, featuring six sixes and two boundaries.

The 26-year-old left-hander has accumulated 356 runs in 11 T20I innings, boasting an outstanding average of 89 and a strike rate of 176.24, including two half-centuries. His consistent performances position him as a strong contender for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup in the USA and the West Indies.
