‘Rohit Sharma Is A Liability For Team India’ – Former Indian Cricketer Made A Bold Statement

Former India opener Kris Srikkanth feels that Indian captain Rohit Sharma is a liability to the T20I team. He claimed that it will tough for Rohit to even get selected for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 next year.

Though, Rohit Sharma is India’s captain in all the formats of the game, however, since the start of 2023, he has been sidelined from the shortest format and vice-captain Hardik Pandya has been leading the Indian cricket team in the shortest format of the game. Even for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, Hardik is all set to lead the Indian cricket team in Rohit’s absence.

Team India has failed to win the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 last year. Infact, it has been more than a decade since the Indian cricket team last won an ICC trophy. It was in 2023 under MS Dhoni’s captaincy that team India won the ICC trophy after winning the Champions Trophy 2013.

When Rohit Sharma took over the reins from Virat Kohli last year, there were a lot of expectations. However, Team India witnessed some close finishes in the group stage but he managed to pull off a win in every match. In the semi-final match against England, team India faced a huge defeat by 10 wickets.

Following India’s defeat, selectors opted to play a young squad in the shortest format of the game, captained by Hardik Pandya. While, selectors didn’t remove Rohit as the T20I skipper, Hardik has been leading the team in the T20I format. ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will take place next year.

Kris Srikkanth Called Rohit Sharma A Liability

Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, former Indian cricketer Kris Srikanth talked about players like Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested from the T20I series. He also mentioned that Rohit is a liability for the T20 team. He said:

“Virat Kohli is obviously rested, Jadeja is obviously rested. Let me put in that way. These two guys are obviously rested. Rohit Sharma is tough to even get selected on 2024 T20 World Cup and he is liability to the team”,
