The Bangladeshi Tigers emerged out victorious over the Indian cricket team in the first match of the T20I series yesterday. They don’t have their most talented player Shakib Al Hasan in their ranks for the T20I, however, they didn’t let his absence affect the results.
Mushfiqur Rahim turned out to be the hero of the match and he made sure to remain unbeaten till the end. Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah also supported him with their cameos, as the Tigers rose towards the victory against the Indians.

Before the match started, Mahmudullah won the toss and decided to let the hosts bat first. The Indian cricket team had a bad start for the first innings as Shafiul Islam removed skipper Rohit with a slower ball. But it didn’t backfire completely and India somehow managed to score 148.
Another opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan(41) along with KL Rahul(15) found the boundary occasionally, but couldn’t continue their partnership for too long. Aminul Islam Biplob sent Rahul back to the pavilion. Shreyas Iyer (22) threatened the tigers for a small brief of time.

Shikhar Dhawan was given a run out after he got involved in a mix-up with Rishabh Pant. Rishabh scored 26-ball 27 with three fours. In the last two overs, Krunal Pandya and Washington Sundar combined to score 30 runs. Shivam Dube who made his debut today for India was dismissed after scoring only one run.
Just like India, Bangladesh’s cricketers weren’t lucky enough to get a great start, however, players like Mohammad Naim, Mahmadullah, Somya Sarkar and Mushfiqur turned the tables by scoring 26, 15, 39, and 60 respectively.

After the match, Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper talked about what went wrong, he said:
“Not to take credit away from Bangladesh. They put us under pressure right from the start when we were batting. It was a defendable score, and we made mistakes on the field. The guys are a bit inexperienced, and they can learn from that, perhaps not make them the next time.”
He added:
“The reviews were a mistake from our side, not to talk about it at least, and the first ball he played on the backfoot, we thought it was going down leg, and the next one on the frontfoot, but we forgot how short he is! We weren’t upto the mark on the field, but batting-wise I think we put up a competitive score.”

He also appreciated the crucial wickets taken by Chahal. He said:
“Chahal was always welcome into this format. He’s crucial to this team, and he showed how important he is in the middle overs, when the batsmen are set. He completely understands what he needs to execute, and that makes it a little easier for the captain as well.”
