Rohit Sharma Makes A Big Statement On Kuldeep Yadav And Yuzvendra Chahal: After spending a significant amount of time in the sideline, the spin-twins Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal returned back in the national set-up. Yuzvendra Chahal, who was dropped from the T20 World Cup, made a return to the Indian side in the home series against New Zealand played last year. On the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav has been called for the ongoing series against West Indies.

Though, both of them are yet to play together in the ongoing series, however, they have generated a strong buzz among the fans, who want to see both of them reunite on the pitch.

Meanwhile, India’s new white-ball captain, Rohit Sharma expressed his thoughts on the spin-twin and hailed them as a “great asset” to Team India. He highlighted their roles but he also went on to explain why others were preferred over the two. He pointed out that T20 cricket demand cricketers to possess additional skills apart from their expertise. Rohit said:

“Kuldeep and Chahal have been a great asset for us in the past, and they will continue to be. It’s just that things should start falling in place for them. We have to give them the confidence and game time, along with the support of the team”

“At the same time, we have a lot of options. When you are playing the shortest format, you have to look at someone with bowling skills who can bat as well. You are looking at players with two or three different skills and that’s why the other guys get more preference.”

While Chahal picked five wickets in the two ODIs he played, on the other hand, Kuldeep Yadav was fielded in the third and the last game, where he picked two wickets before he was smashed for some towering sixes by Odean Smith.

“But not to forget that these two guys are wicket-taking options. They can bowl in the powerplay, in the middle or whatever it is. The captain will expect them to flight the ball and pick wickets and this is what they have done in the past,” Rohit Sharma said.

“Chahal has got back his rhythm as I saw in the ODIs, Kuldeep will need some time as he was injured for close to five months. He played an international game after a while.  “Wrist spinners need time but the kind of guy Kuldeep is, I am sure he will start looking to get his thing right. He has been already doing that in the nets. My fingers are crossed for Kuldeep and Chahal and hope they come good for us,”

Further, Rohit Sharma also mentioned that it is the responsibility of the team to help Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav regain their old form. He said:

“It’s for us and them to make sure they get into that rhythm. Chahal, I can see that he’s already there. Kuldeep will need time because he was out injured for a while. Rhythm for wrist spinner takes a bit of time. Fingers crossed for both,”

The spin twins will be seen in action in the upcoming three-match T20I series, which starts from Wednesday in Kolkata. It will be interesting to see if team India will field both Chahal and Kuldeep together in the upcoming series.
