Rohit Sharma’s Old Tweet Shows How Far He Has Come In His Life

India’s batting superstar, Rohit Sharma has been appointed as India’s new ODI and T20I captain by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday. Though he already took the captaincy charge in T20Is from the recently concluded 2-match T20I series against New Zealand but he wasn’t officially announced as the captain of the shortest format by the selection committee at that time.

On Wednesday, Rohit was given the full-time responsibility as India’s captain in limited-overs cricket.  Rohit will take over from Virat Kohli in the 50-over format, and his first assignment will be the upcoming 3-match ODI series in South Africa.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in an official release made the big announcement. The BCCI wrote:

“The All-India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr Rohit Sharma as the Captain of the ODI & T20I teams going forward,”

India’s senior selection committee also confirmed that Rohit has replaced Ajinkya Rahane as the vice-captain for the three-match Test series in South Africa, which will kickstart on December 26.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be leading the Indian cricket team in the upcoming 50-over World Cup 2023. However, the road to captaincy wasn’t that easy for the stylish batsman.

Rohit, who will now be seen leading the Indian side in the biggest tournaments around the world, was excluded from the T20 World Cup 2011 squad. He was getting badly criticized for his batting performances and eventually, he was not included in the Indian squad for the T20 WC 2011, which India won.

Back then, Rohit had reacted to the criticism that he faced at that time. He had stated that he would prefer to answer with the bat. He had Tweeted:

“People have questioned whether I deserve to be on the team for the world cup, I prefer to answer with my bat”

In another Tweet, that has resurfaced on social media, Rohit expressed how his exclusion from the World Cup 2011 squad has left him disappointed. He had Tweeted:

“Really really disappointed of not being the part of the WC squad..I need to move on frm here..but honestly it was a big setback..any views!”

It won’t be wrong to call Rohit Sharma, the man of his words. With his passion and determination, the cricketer has achieved what some players can only dream of. Hitman will be desperate to guide India to their third ODI WC title in the 2023 edition.
