The final day of the first Test in Visakhapatnam witnessed many amazing performances from our Indian cricketers. Mohammad Shami, the Indian pacer once again rattled the opponents with a fiery spell.

Mohammad Shami took the wickets of Temba Bavuma, Faf du Plessis, and Quinton de Kock before lunch and left the opponents reeling at the score of 60 for 5. In the post-lunch session as well, it was Mohammad Shami’s spell that provided the crucial breakthrough by cleaning up Dane Piedt, who played a powerful knock and scored 56 off 107 balls.

Chasing 395 runs, the South African team was bundled up for 191 runs when Mohammad Shami sent back Kagiso Rabada packing for only 18.

In the post-match conference, Rohit aka Hitman Sharma, who was awarded the Man of the Match award because of his exceptional performance in the match, was asked about Mohammad Shami’s brilliant performance and the reason behind his consistent pace. Answering to which, Rohit Sharma revealed the big reason behind his amazing performances and the reason is nothing but BIRYANI!. Yes, here’s what Rohit Sharma said:

“We all know when Shami is fresh what he can do. Along with some Biryani.”

Rohit Sharma also went on to praise the brilliance of the Indian speedster and credited him for making it look easy when it’s not. He said:

“Shami, we have seen him in these conditions not just today but previously as well. I still remember our debut together in Kolkata, where the pitch was lower and slower on days 4-5, and he knows how to bowl on those pitches. He gets reverse-swing straight into play once he knows there is some help that is on offer. It’s not easy to bowl when you know it’s reversing. You need to pitch it in the right areas; you need to make sure that the ball is just around off-stump; otherwise, sometimes you can leak a lot of runs as well.”

Rohit Sharma added:

“So I guess he has mastered that pretty well by now, bowling with the old ball and trying the ball to reverse. These kinds of conditions are pretty ideal for him, getting batsmen to play all six balls which is slightly tough for batsmen on such pitches”.
