Rohit Sharma Reveals Whether He Will Play The ODI World Cup In 2027

Team India under Rohit Sharma have been quite successful in the ICC tournaments. India qualified for the semi final of the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022, then qualified for the final of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 by winning all the 10 games till the finals and then finally won the T20 World Cup 2024 undefeated. They became the first side to win the T20 World Cup without losing any game. Rohit Sharma has been influential as a captain and has led from the front. He has also selflessly batted as an opener and has been highly influential in the last two ICC tournaments.

Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement from T20I’s after the T20 World Cup 2024 final. The hitman is already 7 years old and discussions are being done on his future in ODI’s as well as test cricket. There is an ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 and Jay Shah has already stated that the seniors will be taking part in that tournament.

However, the big question arises: Will Rohit Sharma play in the ICC ODI World Cup in 2027. The World Cup is slated to happen in South Africa, with co-hosts Zimbabwe and Namibia. By the time it happens, Sharma will be 40 years old. He has to work on his fitness and keep himself fit if he wants to play that World Cup. The Hitman recently talked about his future in ODI’s and test cricket.

“I’m still performing at a high level, so I intend to keep playing for a few more years. Winning the 50-over World Cup is a major goal of mine. Additionally, we have the WTC final at Lord’s in 2025, and I’m hopeful that we’ll qualify for that,” he stated.

Rohit Sharma was heartbroken after India suffered a painful defeat in the hands of Australia in the ODI World Cup final. He wants to desperately win the ODI World Cup and hence the defeat in Ahmedabad was heartbreaking for him.
