India captain Rohit Sharma didn’t have a desired start to his Australia tour as the opener fell for a cheap score of only 3 runs in the first warm-up game against Western Australia XI.
India are scheduled to play two warm-up matches versus the home domestic team, Western Australia XI, at the W.A.C.A. Ground in Perth. The fast bowling attack of the WA domestic side and the fast, bouncy track at this particular venue will serve India with the best conditions to get adjusted to the bounce and pace of Australia prior to the T20 World Cup.
This resulted in the downfall of the Indian skipper early in the innings as Rohit Sharma continued his inconsistent form. Before coming to Australia, he’d been dismissed for two ducks against South Africa but has hammered 43 runs in the second T20I against the Proteas.
And to further compound the worries regarding Rohit Sharma, it was his nemesis – a left-arm pacer – Jason Behrendorff – who dismissed him in the third over of the match, edging it behind. Rohit’s struggles with left-arm seamers against the new ball is a cause of concern heading into the T20 World Cup where most of the teams have a quality left-arm new ball seamer.
This low score of Rohit Sharma triggered a mass trolling of him on Twitter:
