Ishan Kishan has been receiving praise from all corners after he became the latest entrant in the elite club of cricketers who have managed to score a double century in ODI cricket. Ishan Kishan played a stunning knock as he registered a double century to help India post a mammoth total of 409.8 in the 3rd ODI match against Bangladesh.
It is the first time since December 2017 that an Indian player has managed to breach the 200 mark in an ODI match and the last player to do it was captain Rohit Sharma. Yes, Rohit Sharma is the only player to have crossed 200 more than once in ODIs. He was ruled out of the series after he split his webbing while fielding in the second ODI. As Rohit had injured his thumb and was ruled out, Ishan was given an opportunity to play for India, which he grabbed with both hands.
Replacing the Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan came out to open the innings for team India with all-guns-blazing and became the youngest batter to breach the 200-run mark. Batting with a strike rate of 160.31, Kishan played a blistering knock of 210 runs off 131 balls. His knock was laced with 24 fours and 10 sixes.
Impressed with his sensational knock, Rohit Sharma took to his social media and welcomed Ishan Kishan to the 200-runs club with an amazing post. He shared a picture of Ishan and wrote: “Yeh club ka mazza alag hai, @ishankishan23″
