Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been two pillars of the Indian Cricket Team for over a decade now. They have held the baton for the Indian Cricket Team and have scored tons of runs. Whenever India have been in trouble, they have stood up and delivered the goods for team India. However, one thing that was left for them to achieve was winning a World Cup together.
They came very close to achieving it in the ODI World Cup 2023. India played like a champion in the home World Cup and won 10 games on the trot by a dominant margin. However, they faltered in the final in Ahmedabad against a stern Australian team. It was an emotional moment for the Indian fans and players. Captain Rohit Sharma led them from the front and played selfless innings at the top to set the game for India. Virat Kohli was the Man Of The Tournament by scoring 700+ runs. However, the World Cup trophy did not reach their hands.
However, the two stalwarts arrived in the T20 World Cup 2024 with renewed energy. Kohli and Sharma opened the innings for India in the T20 World Cup 2024. However, Kohli did not have a good time with the bat and failed to make it count. Rohit Sharma stood up and played some blinders and took India to victory.
They were undefeated till the final. However, in the final, when the pressure mounted on India at 34/3, the magic man, Virat Kohli, stood up. He held the innings with Axar Patel and scored 76 runs off 59 balls to help India reach 176 runs in their 20 overs. When the chips were down, it was Virat Kohli yet again, who stood up for Rohit Sharma.
