Rumors Of Jasprit Bumrah’s Injury Spark Again As He Returns To Mumbai From Sri Lanka

India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah has returned to his home in Mumbai from Pallekele on Sunday in the middle of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023.

This news comes just a day after India’s match against Pakistan which was washed out, and a day before the upcoming match against Nepal. This means that Jasprit Bumrah will certainly miss the Nepal match, which is a must-win game for India to proceed through to the Super 4 round.

Is Jasprit Bumrah injured again? Why has he flown back home in middle of Asia Cup?

Jasprit Bumrah

No, Jasprit Bumrah is not injured. He returned home to Mumbai from Sri Lanka during the Asia Cup because of personal family reasons.

Bumrah will miss the match against Nepal but is expected to return ahead of the Super 4 encounter against Pakistan on September 10. (That is if India qualify in Super 4, which they should with either a win or a washout against Nepal.)

To replace Jasprit Bumrah against Nepal, India have Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna in the squad.

India to face Nepal in must-win match on Monday

India’s game against Pakistan was washed out after Team India’s innings. India scored 266 runs, bowled out with the Pakistani pace trio of Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf sharing all 10 wickets to fall.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, India were in early trouble as Shaheen dismissed both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Haris Rauf got into the act, too, getting rid of Shreyas Gill and Shubman Gill, leaving India reeling at 66-4.

Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan then forged a superb fighting partnership of 138 runs in 141 balls. Kishan smoked 9 fours and 2 sixes scoring 82 runs in 81 balls while Hardik cracked 7 fours and one six in his knock of 87 runs in 90 balls. Both the batters, though, missed their centuries.

After India’s innings completed, rain came down and didn’t relent at all, thus robbing the fans of a spicy thriller that was on the cards.

Both India and Pakistan shared one point each. Pakistan, who had earlier defeated Nepal by a heavy margin, thus went through to the Super 4 round. And now India and Nepal meet in a must-win encounter.

However, once again there is a forecast for heavy rains in Pallekele. Should the match get washed out on Monday, India will then end up with 2 points and Nepal with one, so India will move to the Super 4 round.
