Betway SA20 League Commissioner, Graeme Smith, couldn’t hide his excitement. “The momentum is building, and we’re thrilled about these fixtures,” Smith remarked. His statement echoed the anticipation surrounding the new season. Fans are promised a captivating opening week.
Smith also touched upon the revamped timings. Mid-week matches now start at 5:30 PM local time. The idea? “We aim to offer prime summer evening viewing,” he explained.
The SA20 League’s first season saw some competition. The UAE-based International League T20 (ILT20) was its major rival. And 2024 will be no different. ILT20 plans to launch its second season two days after SA20, on January 13, 2024.
The SA20’s structure remains largely the same. All six teams will face each other twice in a round-robin format. But, a significant change is on the horizon. Instead of traditional semi-finals, a new playoff format takes centre stage.

The top two teams will face off in Qualifier 1. Meanwhile, teams placed third and fourth will dive into the Eliminator. But here’s the twist. The Qualifier 1 loser will play against the Eliminator winner in Qualifier 2. The prize? A golden ticket to the Final, where they’ll face the Qualifier 1 winner.
