Sachin Tendulkar Gave A Very Emotional Tribute To Collarwali

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Monday penned a heartfelt note after the ‘Heartbreaking’: Sachin Tendulkar Mourns the Death of Legendary Tigress ‘Collarwali’, who passed away at the Pench Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh on January 15.

For the unversed, ‘Collarwali’ was the first-ever tigress to be radio-collared at Pench. After the collar stopped functioning, the tigress was again radio-collared in 2010. This is the reason why she earned her name ‘Collarwali’ or T15 Tigress.

She played a significant role in increasing the family of tigers in Pench. In 2008, she had first given bith to three cubs, but they couldn’t survive. She gave birth to four cubs for the last time in 2018, which took the number of her cubs to 29, which is a world record. Out of the total 29 cubs she gave birth to 25 survived.  Because of this she earned the title of ‘supermom’.

Born in September 2005, Collarwali lived for 17 years and died of prolonged illness on January 15th. The last rites of the tigress were performed with full respect by the officials at the Pench Tiger Reserve, which attracted a huge crowd on Sunday.

Social media has been buzzing with reactions and tributes after the demise of Collarwali. Pictures from the last rites of the Collarwali have been making rounds on the internet. India’s legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar also took to his Twitter and posted a heartfelt message for Collarwali. Sachin wrote:

Wildlife lovers and enthusiasts will understand how heartbreaking it is, when a majestic tigress goes into silence forever. Rest in peace, #Collarwali.”
