Sachin Tendulkar Made A Statement About Shubman Gill’s Technique: Shubman Gill’s career in the longest format continues in its hot and cold form as the cricketer has failed to leave a mark with his performance in the ongoing 2-match Test series against New Zealand. The opening player was dismissed on 1 run in the second innings after scoring fifty in the 1st innings of the 1st Test match in Kanpur.

However, the cricketer made his return in the second Test match, where he scored 44 runs off 71 balls, but, the cricketer failed to convert his good start into big numbers yet again.

Sachin Tendulkar Made A Statement About Shubman Gill’s Technique

Meanwhile, the legendary batter and former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar was all praises for young and talented Indian opener Shubman Gill.

Recently, while interacting with PTI, Sachin was asked if Shubman has the technique to do well in the upcoming tour to South Africa if he is asked to bat in the middle-order. Responding to this, Sachin said

“When it comes to technique, different surfaces will test you differently. I think Shubman has an advantage as he played a very crucial inning (91) in Brisbane where we won the Test match. He has had the experience of playing on hard and bouncy tracks and I felt that he looked pretty comfortable. So, I don’t think there is any technical issue as such.”

Further, Sachin said that Shubman Gill needs to convert his starts to big numbers and he hopes that Gill is taking lessons from the games he’s playing. He said:

“Shubman has started well and shown a lot of promise. The way he builds his innings, he has been good so far. Just that he needs to go further and convert those 40s into big scores. Once you get into that squad, it is about how hungry you are for bigger scores which I am sure he is. He needs to just convert those starts and not lose concentration. Both in Kanpur and Mumbai, he got good deliveries. He is on a learning curve and will definitely take lessons.”

Meanwhile, Shubman dealt with an elbow injury during New Zealand’s first innings in the ongoing second Test match in Mumbai. Owing to the injury, Gill didn’t open the batting in the second innings for team India.

“? Update ?: Shubman Gill suffered a blow to his right elbow while fielding in the first innings. He has not recovered completely and hence not taken the field as a precautionary measure. #TeamIndia #INDvNZ @Paytm” The BCCI tweeted an update on Gill’s injury.
