The father-son duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Arjun Tendulkar etched their names in the records books on Sunday (April 16) as Arjun made his debut in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Mumbai Indians (MI) against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
Arjun Tendulkar finally made his IPL debut
As Arjun made his debut for Mumbai Indians, they became the first-ever father-son pair to have played in the IPL, with both of them making their appearances for Mumbai Indians. Sachin last played in the league in the 2013 year.
Coming to the game, Arjun bowled just two overs in his maiden appearance for the five-time IPL champs and gave away 17 runs.
Sachin Tendulkar Wrote An Emotional Note
After the match, batting legend and Arjun’s father, Sachin Tendulkar took to his social media and came up with a heart-touching post for his son. In his Instagram post, Sachin wished Arjun all the luck as he took another important step in his career. He wrote:
“Arjun, today you have taken another important step in your journey as a cricketer. As your father, someone who loves you and is passionate about the game, I know you will continue to give the game the respect it deserves and the game will love you back. You have worked very hard to reach here, and I am sure you will continue to do so. This is the start of a beautiful journey. All the best!👍💙🏏”

Sachin along with his family was present at the venue to see his son play his first-ever IPL match. Sachin got a very close view of his son’s maiden performance in the IPL because he was sitting inside the MI dugout.
Sachin, who played for only Mumbai Indians in his IPL career, has been MI’s team mentor since the 2014 season.
