Sachin Tendulkar Hailed Afghanistan Players: Cricket lovers around the world were delighted after the Afghanistan cricket team thrashed the Pakistan cricket team in the 22nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, Chennai on Monday, October 23.

The Hashmatullah Shahidi-led Afghanistan side registered a historic 8-wicket win against the Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team. This was their first win against Pakistan in eight ODIs.

Chasing a target of 283 runs on the tricky Chennai surface the top four batters of the side were enough to take the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners. Riding on the half-centuries of Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Rahmat Shah, the Afghanistan cricket team defeated Pakistan and completed the run-chase in 49 overs.

Earlier, Afghanistan’s bowling line-up restricted Pakistan to 282/7 on the board in 50 overs. For Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad emerged as the top performer with his 3-wicket haul. Also, Naveen-UlLHaq picked two wickets while Azmatullah Omarzai and Mohammad Nabi got one wicket each.

Among many, Sachin Tendulkar, who is hailed as one of the greatest cricketers to have played for team India, also took to his social media and hailed the performance of Afghanistan players. In his Tweet, he also credited Ajay Jadeja for the change. He wrote:

“Afghanistan’s performance at this World Cup has been nothing short of outstanding. Their discipline with the bat, the temperament they’ve shown, and aggressive running between the wickets reflects their hard work. It could possibly be due to a certain Mr. Ajay Jadeja’s influence. 😜

With a formidable bowling lineup, their victories over teams like England and Pakistan indicate the emergence of a new Afghanistan team.

The cricket world is taking note. 🏏 Well done!”
