Sachin Tendulkar Posted A Special Tweet For Indian Women Team Ahead Of CWG 2022: The Commonwealth Games 2022 is set to kick off on Friday, 29th July in Birmingham. Cricket makes its return to the Games for the first time since 1998 and the first time women’s cricket will be played in this particular tournament.

In 1998, in Malaysia. 16 men’s teams competed in ODI matches. South Africa beat Australia in the final to win the gold medal while New Zealand won the bronze by defeating Sri Lanka for a third-place finish.

This time there is no men’s competition but the rise in stature and following of women’s cricket has forced CWG to get women’s cricket in the Games. Also, notably, the cricket event will be in the 20-over format.

8 teams have been divided into two groups of four each: India, Australia, Pakistan and Barbados [the side from West Indies] are placed in Group A; England are slotted in Group B alongside New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka.

The top 2 teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals – the topper of one group facing the second best team of the other. The losers of the semifinals will then contest for the bronze medal and the final will be played on August 7. All the matches will be held at the famous Edgbaston stadium in Birmingham.
