What we saw yesterday was India’s first ODI win at Durban and who else would have made it possible besides Virat Kohli. India outsmarted the hosts in all departments and took a 1-0 lead by registering a comprehensive win the first ODI.
South Africa would have wanted to dominate India just like the test series but this time Kohli had different plans.
CLINICAL VICTORY FOR INDIA
After South Africa posted a total of 269 for 8 India registered a comfortable win by 6 wickets and 4.3 overs to spare. The Indian captain was sensational in India’s chase as he scored 12 from 119 balls. He was supported by Ajinkya Rahane’s brave knock of 79 which came from 86 balls.

For South Africa, it was the skipper, Du Plessis who played a captain’s knock. Faf Du Plessis scored his 9th ODI ton on his way to his knock of 120. He was assisted by little cameos by other batsmen.
India from the very first match now has the upper hand in the series. Also, this was India’s first ever ODI win at Durban and it came at a perfect moment. Once again it was Kohli who led India’s chase and he has rather made it a habit to make chases look so easy.
SPIN DUO WON HEARTS
For India Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he picked 3 from 34. Yuzvendra Chahal was good too and scalped 2 wickets for 45 in his quota of 10 overs. Pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar picked one wicket each. The spin duo was spectacular once again.
SACHIN LAUDS TEAM INDIA’s PERFORMANCE
Sachin wished India for the great win and lauded the boys. In particular, it was Virat Kohli, Rahane, Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav for their clinical performances. Sachin also highlighted the importance of the great partnership between Kohli and Rahane.
Two great partnerships to take India to victory. First, @imkuldeep18 along with @yuzi_chahal and then @imVkohli with @ajinkyarahane88. Great work, boys. Keep up the momentum, #TeamIndia. #INDvSA pic.twitter.com/tQnfETAuco
