Everybody wants to know how much does a cricketer earn. The IPL salary is public to all because of the auction. But most people don’t know how much do these cricketers earn while playing for their country.

Recently, BCCI announced the central contract which gives a clear idea as to how much the Indian players earn. But what about the other players in the world? How much does the captain of each country get? Let’s have a look at the salaries of the international captains.

  1. Sri Lanka – Dimuth Karunaratne – 71.32 Lakh and Lasith Malinga – 50 Lakh

The Sri Lankan cricket team has two captains across the two formats. Dimuth Karunaratne leads their side in the longest format and the ODI format as well whereas the veteran bowler Lasith Malinga is the skipper in the shortest format.

Compared to the other countries, the captains of Sri Lanka don’t earn that much. Karunaratne earns $100,000 in a year which is approximately 71.32 Lakhs and Lasith Malinga earns $70,000 which is close to 50 Lakhs in a year.

Both the players are contracted with the SLC and receive their salaries from the board.

  1. Australia – Tim Paine and Aaron Finch – 4.87 CR

Just like Sri Lanka, Australia too has two different captains. One of them is the red ball captain whereas the other one is the while ball captain. Interestingly, both the players got the captaincy due to the ball-tampering controversy.

In 2017, the Australian players had a pay dispute with the board which resulted in a pay hike. Both the Australian captains earn close to a million dollars which amount close to 4.87 CR.

In Australia, the captain of the cricket team is a very highly regarded person and so both of them deserve that much money.

  1. South Africa – Faf Du Plessis – 3.2 CR and Quinton De Kock – 2.5 CR

There are questions over Faf’s future but at the moment, according to the current contract, Faf earns $450,000 and QDK earns $350,000 which approximately accounts for 3.2 CR and 2.5 CR respectively.

At the moment, Babar Azam and Sarfaraz Khan receive 66 Lakhs yearly whereas Azhar Ali receives 44.28 Lakhs from the Pakistan Cricket board.

Virat Kohli is arguably the busiest cricketer in the world right now and so he deserves the amount of money he gets from the BCCI.

  1. England – Joe Root – 8.15 CR and Eoin Morgan – 2.56 CR

In England, there are two different contracts, one for the Test players and the other for the white-ball players. The Test players earn 600,000 Euros whereas the white-ball players earn 275,000 Euros. Joe Root is a part of both the teams and so he earns from both the contracts but Morgan earns only from the white-ball contract.
