Sam Billings raised a lot of eyebrows as he kept his base price for INR 2.0 crores for the IPL auction 2021. Sam Billings, who opted out of the previous edition of the Indian Premier League, was a part of the CSK squad that won the IPL 2018. He had played 10 matches in that edition for CSK.

The 29-year-old is not just an explosive striker of the ball but he can also keep wickets for the team. So far he has featured in 22 IPL matches, amassing 334 runs at 17.58 with three fifties with a strike rate of 133.60.

However, after he went unsold in the first session, Sam Billings showed sportsman spirit and shared a hilarious tweet. In his tweet, Sam revealed the hilarious reaction of his girlfriends after he went unsold at the auction. His girlfriend trolled him by asking why he couldn’t become a bowler. He wrote:

“My girlfriend Sarah just turns to me and goes… ‘why aren’t you a bowler?’”

For the unversed, the IPL auctions saw fast-bowlers and all-rounders in huge demand. For instance, Australia’s pacer Jhye Richardson was sold to Punjab Kings for INR 14 crores and Chris Morris shattered all the records after he was sold for INR 16.25 crores to Rajasthan Royals

Meanwhile, Billings was later bought by Delhi Capitals for his base price. Later, while expressing his thoughts on joining the DC squad, Sam Billings said that he is back to where his IPL journey started. He wrote:

“Back to where my @IPL journey began! Can’t wait to join up with the @DelhiCapitals  #YehHaiNayiDilli”
