Sanjay Manjrekar Excluded Ravindra Jadeja For The Second Test And Got Trolled

Sanjay Manjrekar Excluded Ravindra Jadeja From His Playing XI For 2nd Test: After the first Test match between India and England was drawn with day 5 getting washed out because of rain, Virat Kohli and his team on Monday were off to London for the second Test match against England at Lord’s. However, Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav, who joined the Indian squad in Nottingham on August 3 as replacement players, won’t be available for the 2nd Test match as they will remain in mandatory 10-days quarantine in Nottingham

Meanwhile, ahead of the 2nd Test match, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has come up with his playing XI for the second test and he has once again managed to stir a debate. Despite the success at Trent Bridge, Manjrekar has made an interesting change in the playing XI.

Manjrekar decided to exclude India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja from his playing XI, which was weird as Jadeja played a crucial knock of 56 in the first innings.

But this isn’t the first time that Manjrekar is in news for his opinion on Jadeja, time and again, Manjrekar has always been on the headlines for making controversial remarks on Ravindra Jadeja. His “bits and pieces” remark for Jadeja drew a lot of criticism towards him.

For the opening position, Jadeja went in with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma at the top of the order. They were followed by Cheteshwar Pujara for the number 3 position. His number 4 and 5 were the captain Virat Kohli and the vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

He decided to go with Hanuma Vihari at number 6 in order to have a specialist batsman in the playing XI. He said:

“Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will be my openers. At No. 3, I will want to play Pujara. We didn’t get to see a lot of his batting in the second innings but I will still want to play him. Then Virat Kohli will be No. 4, Ajinkya Rahane No. 5. A slightly controversial selection because I will like to get a specialist batsman at No.6, some depth in the batting because two or three batsmen are out of form and the ball moves a little as well in England.”

He picked Rishabh Pant at number 7 and said that Pant coming at that position could be more effective. He said:

“I feel if Rishabh Pant comes at No. 7, he can prove even more dangerous and can play very well with the tail-enders. I am playing Vihari because the last Test match he played, he batted for 2.5 hours to save India.”

He added:

“I will like to bring in Ashwin, who I feel was dropped wrongly in the first match. I am bringing a bowler who has greater chances of taking wickets on a good pitch. I will play three seamers – Shami, Bumrah. I don’t know if Ishant is fit but I will go with Siraj because he has the capability to take five wickets,”

Meanwhile, it will be a huge call to drop an in-form batsman and include Hanuma Vihar, who last played for India in January. Fans weren’t too impressed with the playing XI of Sanjay Manjrekar and started slamming him for leaving Ravindra Jadeja from his playing XI.
