Sanjay Manjrekar Gave A Very Logical Answer To Sanju-Morris Controversy

Sanjay Manjrekar Gave A Very Logical Answer To Sanju-Morris Controversy: What started with fireworks, ended with heartbreak, as Sanju Samson gave a stunning performance by playing a captain’s knock against Punjab Kings. Sanju Samson scored a powerful century in his maiden match as the skipper and became the first one to do so in the history of IPL however, the skipper failed to take his team to the winning side even after putting in all the efforts.

Sanju Samson walked in with all-guns-blazing and took the game by storm. Sanju Samson held the game strong and steadied the game for his team, as the wickets kept falling at the other end. He reached the century mark in the 18th over as he struck pacer Jhye Richardson for 14 runs in the first three balls of his over.

Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh stole the show with his brilliance in the death over. The target was distilled down to 5 runs needed off the last ball, however, a heartbreak awaited Sanju Samson, who refused to take a single run on the penultimate ball. Deepak Hooda snaffled him to seal the 4-run win for Punjab Kings.

Sanju was dismissed in the last over of the game by Arshdeep Singh after scoring a whopping 119 runs off 63 balls. He smashed the Punjab Kings’ bowlers to all the corners of the ground and smashed 12 fours and 7 sixes. However, his team fell short of 4 runs only to win the match.

Meanwhile, fans on social media were divided into two parts after Samson refused a single on the penultimate ball. While many think that it was the right decision, others feel that things would have ended differently if Samson had taken that single and given the strike to Chris Morris.

Among many, former Indian cricketer and popular commentator Sanjay Manjrekar took to his Twitter and posted a sensible tweet in this matter, ending the ‘Samson-Morris’ debate. In his tweet, he claimed that giving the strike rate to debutant Morris could’ve been riskier than Sanju trying to hit a six. He wrote:

“Greater possibility of Samson hitting a six in that form than new batsman in Morris hitting a four. Right call by Samson to keep strike last ball I thought.”
