IND vs SL: Sara Tendulkar Gives A Standing Ovation To Shubman Gill; Fans Post Funny Memes

Young India opener Shubman Gill got a standing ovation from the crowd at the Wankhede stadium on Thursday for his impressive knock of 92 runs in 92 balls against Sri Lanka.

Gill missed his maiden World Cup 2023 century only by 8 runs. After an iffy start, where he was dropped by Asalanka when Gill was on 8 runs, the 24-year-old cashed in on his good form this year. However, Shubman couldn’t get to his first three-figure score in the World Cup as left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka dismissed him with a bouncer.

Shubman Gill cracked 11 fours and 2 sixes in his breezy knock and was involved in a mega partnership of 189 runs in 179 balls with Virat Kohli for the second wicket after Rohit Sharma, the captain, got out on the second ball of the match.

Gill and Kohli were shaky in their start and both were dropped once each – though both were difficult catches – and both made the Lankans pay with their class and supreme form in ODIs in 2023. However, Madushanka came in for a spell around the 30th over mark and dismissed both Gill and Kohli, as the duo missed their respective centuries. Shubman Gill got out for 92 before Kohli was dismissed for 88.

As Gill walked off, he got a rousing standing ovation from the Wankhede crowd, including from Sara Tendulkar, the daughter of Sachin Tendulkar who is rumored to be dating Gill.

Sara was present in the stadium and the camera panned on her soon after Gill got out. The cameraman was also prompt in getting the clip of Sara Tendulkar giving Shubman Gill a standing ovation.
