Sarfaraz Ahmed Opens Up About Babar Azam’s Captaincy After Failure In Australia

Pakistan’s new skipper Babar Azam couldn’t have asked for a tougher series to start than the tour of Australia to start with his captaincy career. Babar was given the responsibility to lead Pakistan’s cricket team after the Pakistan Cricket Board sacked Sarfaraz Ahmed as the Test and T20I captain.

PCB was not at all happy with Sarfaraz Ahmed and after the humiliating 3-0 loss at the hands of Sri Lanka in the T20I series at home, he was axed immediately from the captaincy.

On the other hand, Babar Azam too did not have much to celebrate in his maiden series as Australia thrashed Pakistan in the three-match series to win it by 2-0. Though he did well with his bat as he scored two fifties but Australia made a mockery of Babar Azam and company to win both the games.

Recently, Sarfaraz Ahmed talked about Babar Azam for the first time since being sacked. Sarfaraz said that Azam is still new and needs everyone’s support. He said:

“Babar is new to the job and my message for all is that we need to support him as much as possible. He is a young captain & he has a young team with him and it’s not easy for a young captain to go to a tough place and fight against a strong team,”
