Days after the shocking sacking of Sarfaraz Ahmed from captaincy position by the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB), Sarfaraz has finally opened up about his feelings regarding the sacking.

The sacking must have come as a big blow for Sarfaraz as exactly one year is left for the T20 World Cup 2020. Babar Azam, who is one of the talented batsmen of Pakistan cricket team has taken over the role in the shortest formats, while on the other hand, veteran batsman Azhar Ali is the captain of red-ball cricket.

PCB was not at all happy with Sarfaraz Ahmed and after the humiliating 3-0 loss at the hands of Sri Lanka in the T20I series at home, he was axed immediately from the captaincy and even the playing squad.

However, ahead of the sensational sacking of Sarfaraz, PCB gave Sarfaraz another chance before finally deciding to remove him from the team.

Sarfaraz Ahmed has now said that he does not have any regret with the way he was removed as captain. He said that he is satisfied with his performance as the skipper of the team. He said:

“I am grateful for whatever I achieved as the captain. I am satisfied with my performance as captain. I captained Pakistan in 100 international games in three formats. I always tried to perform for Pakistan and gave my best,”

He added:

“There’s nothing to regret about. It doesn’t matter if I am disappointed or not as it was the PCB’s decision. My job is to play cricket and do my better and make a comeback. I can’t tell you when exactly but the more I perform, the more early I can make a comeback,”

The former skipper also revealed that the PCB CEO Wasim Khan had visited him to convey the decision. He revealed:

“I was asked if I would prefer to resign myself or through a press release. I said that it is your (PCB’s) decision and whatever is in the better interest of Pakistan cricket, I would be satisfied with it”.
