Sarfaraz Khan Shared A Cryptic Post After Getting Ignored For Caribbean Tour

The BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) recently announced the Test and ODI squads of the Indian cricket team for the upcoming tour of the West Indies. Much-awaited India vs West Indies multi-format series will kickstart on July 12th.

The BCCI selectors have dropped senior players like Cheteshwar Pujara, Umesh Yadav, and Mohammed Shami, with no explanation offered, and included three youngsters who received their maiden Test call-ups. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Mukesh Kumar have received their maiden call-ups for the upcoming series.

However, the absence of Sarfaraz Khan has become one of the most talked about points ahead of the Carribean tour. The national selectors once again ignored the very talented Sarfaraz.

Sarfaraz has played 37 matches in first-class cricket and has scored 3505 runs at an average of 79.65 with 13 centuries and nine half-centuries. His top score of 301 not out came against Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2020 match at the Wankhede Stadium.

Sarfaraz Shared A Cryptic Post

Meanwhile, a day after the announcement of the squad, Khan has finally responded via social media. Disappointed with his exclusion from the team, Sarfaraz shared highlights of his performances in what was a reminder to the selectors what he’s been doing in domestic cricket.

Check out the story shared by Sarfaraz Khan:

Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar also came out in favor of Sarfaraz and slammed the selectors for ignoring the young talent. Gavaskar even asked the BCCI to stop playing Ranji Trophy if such performances have to be ignored. He said:

Sarfaraz Khan has been scoring at an average of 100 in all past three seasons. What does he have to do to be picked in the squad? He might not be in the XI, but you pick him in the team.”

He added:

Tell him that his performances are being recognised. Otherwise, stop playing Ranji Trophy. Say, it’s of no use, you just play IPL and think you are good enough for the red-ball game as well,”
