Shane Watson Reveals Why Tim David Will Be Under Pressure In IPL 2022

Shane Watson Reveals Why Tim David Will Under Pressure In IPL 2022: The 5-times winning champions, Mumbai Indians have made some new additions to their squad for the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. They roped in some great talents at the IPL 2022 mega-auction last week as they would be hoping to take their legacy forward.

While MI’s Ishan Kishan was the most expensive buy of IPL 2022 mega-auction, one of the most surprising names was Tim David, who was brought on board by the Mumbai Indians for a sum of INR 8.25 crore.

David is the first-ever cricketer from Singapore to play in the Indian Premier League. He made his debut in the cash-rich league in the 2021 edition of the IPL for Royal Challengers Bangalore in a match against CSK in the UAE.

Meanwhile, as the young cricketer would be looking to leave a mark in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League, former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson feels that the Singapore-born player will be under immense pressure during his stint with the Mumbai Indian considering the big price he was sold for. Speaking on the ‘ICC Review’ show, Watson said:

“Definitely, with the high price tag, comes a lot of expectations and pressure from your franchise. It is not until you get into the gametime when you really know how to absorb that pressure that is there. I have seen a number of players who have had that expectation and they thrived under it — Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer are those kinds of guys,”

He added: “But there are a number of guys, you can see that the pressure suffocated their performance. Tim David of Singapore plays in the BBL, first time he has got the opportunity to play in the IPL and he will play for Mumbai Indians, so there will be pressure. It does provide different complexities and it is exciting about the IPL,”
