Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar shared a special message for Mumbai-born New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, who gave a sensational performance by picking up a 10-wicket haul in a single Test inning in the ongoing second test match between India vs New Zealand.

Ajaz Patel scripted history as he became only the third cricketer after English spinner Jim Laker (1956 against Australia in Manchester) and Anil Kumble (1999 against Pakistan in Delhi) to pick 10-wickets in an inning.

Not just this, he also became the first bowler to pick a 10-wicket haul in the first innings of a match as both Anil Kumble and Laker achieved this feat in the fourth innings of a Test match.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reacted to the “incredible achievement” and posted: “Incredible achievement as Ajaz Patel picks up all 10 wickets in the 1st innings of the 2nd Test. He becomes the third bowler in the history of Test cricket to achieve this feat. #INDvNZ.”

Ajaz Patel breathed fire as he ran all over the Indian batting unit. He dismissed Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, and Shreyas Iyer On Day 1 before he returned to complete his 10-wicket-haul by sending back Wridhhiman Saha, R Ashwin, Mayank Agarwal, Axar Patel, Jayant Yadav, and Mohammed Siraj on Day 2. He returned with the figures of 10/119, which is the best figures by a left-arm spinner as he overtook.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar took to Twitter and hailed his performance. He wrote how Ajaz gives us a sense of pride. He wrote:

“Congratulations Ajaz Patel on your remarkable achievement of taking 10 wickets in an innings of a Test Match. Born in Mumbai and now part of New Zealand Cricket team gives us a sense of pride as you are only the 3rd cricketer to do so in Test Cricket”
