Young Indian pacer Shardul Thakur, who has been a part of Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League, recently heaped praises on his skipper MS Dhoni and talked about how talking to him helped him.

Team India decided to play with Shardul in the Gabba Test after Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin were ruled out because of injuries. Thakur’s bowling in both the innings at the Gabba was lively as he troubled the Australian batsmen with his bowling skills. He kept grabbing key scalps of Marcus Harris-twice, Tim Paine-twice among others. He finished the tour with the figures of 3/94 and 4/61.

Infact, his powerful knock of 67 runs in India’s first innings along with Washington Sundar’s 62-run knock, featured in a 123-run stand for the seventh wicket, played an instrumental role in helping India recover from a position of 186 for 6 and the rest is all history. Team India won at Gabba for the first time and Australia was defeated at the venue for the first time in 32 years since 1988.

Talking to Times of India in an exclusive interview, Shardul Thakur revealed that talking to the skipper of Chennai Super Kings MS Dhoni has helped him a lot. Thakur heaped praises on the legendary Indian skipper and talked about how he has all sorts of experiences. He said:

“Mostly, I’ve asked him (Dhoni) about how he deals with pressure. He’s dealt with it as a player, captain, member of a losing side. At the same time, he’s received love as a member of a winning side. So, you know, he’s had all kinds of experiences.”

Furthermore, Thakur said that any cricketer can learn a lot from the legend if he keeps his eyes and ears open. He said:

“Whenever he shares his experience, we have something to learn from him. He is a kind of man who will say something each and every day and if you’re smart enough to pick it up, you’ll keep learning. Each and every day, you’ll learn something or the other.”
