Shefali Verma Breaks Down After Team India’s World Cup Loss

The Indian women’s cricket team suffered a disappointing defeat by the hands of Australia by 85 runs in the finals of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 that took place in at Melbourne Cricket Ground. India’s loss broke the hearts of millions of Indian cricket fans, however, what broke our hearts the most was the moment when 16-year-old Shefali Verma broke out after losing the match to Australia.
Shefali Verma Breaks Down After Team India’s World Cup Loss
Shefali Verma, who is 16 years and 40 days old,  made history even before the World Cup final showdown started by becoming the youngest cricketer ever to have played for India in World Cup (both in male and female cricket). The record was previously held by West Indian women’s cricket Shaquana Quintyne, who played the ODI World Cup final in 2013 at the age of 17-years.
Shefali Verma gave a stunning performance throughout the tournament and was seen in tremendous form. Before the final match, she had amassed 167 runs in only 4 matches and was the leading run-scorer from Team India. It was her stunning performances that helped her attain the No. 1 spot in the ICC rankings for batters in T20Is.
However, Shefali Verma failed to give the best of her abilities in the final match and was dismissed early after scoring only two runs.
After the match, as the Australian cricket team won the world cup for the fifth time, Shefali Verma couldn’t control her emotions and broke out. She was then consoled by Indian senior Smiriti Mandhana. The video of the same has been going viral on social media with fans showering love and praises on the youngster for making everyone proud of her game.
