India outplayed Sri Lanka yet again in the third and final match of the recently concluded Test series. Right from the first session, India dominated the game and didn’t allow Sri Lanka to put any kind of pressure on them.

Indian openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul started very well and it was Hardik Pandya who provided the momentum in the end with his maiden Test hundred. Later, the bowling department, led by young Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Sri Lanka twice in less than two days and registered a comprehensive victory.

India’s swashbuckling opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the man of the series award for his consistent batting throughout the 3-match Test series. Dhawan was the leading run scorer in the series with 358 runs that included 2 magnificent centuries.

When Shikhar Dhawan’s name was announced in the post match presentation ceremony, he danced his way to podium to receive his award. He moon walked and had that big ‘trademark Shikhar Dhawan’ smile on his face.

Dhawan revealed that he was holidaying in Hong Kong when Murali Vijay got injured and he was called back as his replacement.

“Before this series, I was in Hong Kong enjoying the holiday,” said Dhawan. “Unfortunately one of our openers was unfit and I got a chance to come over here and by the grace of God things went very well for me and got the Man of the Series award. I am enjoying my batting right now,” Shikhar Dhawan said.

Dhawan said that he likes playing aggressively as it is his natural game.

“I enjoy playing, this is my natural game (playing positive cricket). I have to keep performing well because we have tough competition for all the slots, so that is a great sign for Indian cricket. It keeps me on my toes,” Shikhar Dhawan added.
