Shikhar Dhawan Officially Divorced With Ayesha Mukherjee

In the dynamic world of cricket, where boundaries are celebrated, and wickets are revered, one name shines brightly – Shikhar Dhawan. Fondly known as ‘Gabbar’ by his ardent supporters, Dhawan’s career has been an exhilarating rollercoaster ride. In this article, we explore the highs and lows of this iconic Indian cricket team opener, including his recent divorce and the ensuing custody battle that has captivated the nation.

The Rise to Stardom

Shikhar Dhawan Officially Divorced With Ayesha Mukherjee

Shikhar Dhawan’s journey to cricket stardom is nothing short of inspiring. From humble beginnings, playing gully cricket in the lanes of West Delhi, he ascended to represent the Indian national team with unparalleled skill and passion. His aggressive style of batting and flamboyant strokeplay swiftly won the hearts of cricket enthusiasts around the world.

International Triumphs

Dhawan’s international career is adorned with numerous remarkable achievements. He proudly holds the record for the fastest century by a debutant in Test cricket, a scintillating 187 against Australia in Mohali in 2013. In the realm of One Day Internationals (ODIs), his performance is equally impressive, having amassed over 5,000 runs, including two centuries in ICC Cricket World Cups.

The Asian Games Controversy

In 2023, as the excitement for the Asian Games reached a fever pitch, Shikhar Dhawan’s fans eagerly anticipated his leadership to guide the Indian cricket team to glory. However, their hopes were dashed when he was omitted from the squad due to concerns regarding his recent form in international cricket. This unexpected decision left Dhawan’s supporters disheartened and puzzled.

The Punjab Kings Stint

Amidst the fluctuations in his international career, Shikhar Dhawan continued to shine in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the 2023 season, he assumed the captaincy of the Punjab Kings and exhibited remarkable consistency with the bat. Scoring 373 runs from 11 matches at an impressive average of 41.44, Dhawan proved that he possessed the firepower to dominate the shortest format of the game.

The Divorce Saga

Beyond the cricketing arena, Shikhar Dhawan found himself embroiled in a deeply personal crisis. He initiated divorce proceedings against his wife, Ayesha Mukherjee, in a New Delhi family court. The court upheld Dhawan’s allegations against his wife, ultimately granting him the divorce he had sought.

A Closer Examination

Despite Ayesha Mukherjee’s refutation of the allegations, in which she cited her commitment to her daughters from a previous marriage as the reason for residing in Australia, the court found evidence that she had reneged on her promise to establish a matrimonial home in India following their marriage. This revelation significantly influenced the court’s final decision.

The Path Forward

While Shikhar Dhawan has successfully navigated the path to divorce, the custody battle for his son remains unresolved, awaiting a final judgment. However, there is a glimmer of hope. The court has permitted Dhawan to spend valuable time with his son, whether in India or Australia and has endorsed regular communication through chats and video calls.

The Court said:

“Since petitioner is a reputed International Cricketer and has been pride of the nation, subject to petitioner approaching the Union Government of India, it is requested to take up the issue of visitation/custody of the minor son with its counterpart in Australia to help him have regular visitation or chatting with his own son or his permanent custody. He (Dhawan) for no fault of his own had been through immense agony and anguish of living separately from his own son for years. Even though the wife denied the allegation, submitting that though she genuinely wanted to live in India with him, however due to her commitment towards her daughters from her previous marriage requiring her to stay in Australia, she could not come to live in India and that he was well aware of her commitment, yet she did not choose to contest the claim. Hence, it stands proved that the wife backtracked from her assurance of setting up matrimonial home in India after marriage and thus made him suffer a long distance marriage and suffer immense agony and anguish of living separately from his own son for years.”

Shikhar Dhawan’s journey serves as a poignant reminder of life’s unpredictability, both on and off the cricket field. From his meteoric ascent in international cricket to his personal tribulations, he has confronted adversity with unwavering resolve and determination. Despite the setbacks of being excluded from the Asian Games and his divorce saga, Dhawan remains an indomitable force in the cricketing world. As the nation watches his custody battle unfold, one fact remains steadfast—Shikhar Dhawan’s love for his son and his unwavering passion for cricket will continue to define his remarkable journey.
