India’s ODI opener Shikhar Dhawan recently got the chance to reunite with his son, Zoravar, after a long gap of 2 years. He shared this happy moment with his fans in his recent Instagram post.

In an emotional video the batter uploaded, Dhawan met with Zoravar after a long time. Shikhar Dhawan has had a tough time in his personal life as he got divorced from Aesha Mukerji last year, ending their marriage of 8 years. Shikhar and Aesha got married in 2012, and Zoravar was born two years later. This was Aesha’s second divorce.

Zoravar has been living in Australia for the past couple of years. Given the covid-19 restrictions and Dhawan’s busy schedule, the cricketer wasn’t able to meet his son since 2020. Now they finally met, and the happiness on the faces of the duo was clear.

“Two long years since I met my son Uske saath khelna, usko gale lagaana, baatein karna.. bohot emotional moments hain ye.. These are the moments jo humesha yaad rahenge,” Dhawan captioned his Instagram post.

Here is Shikhar Dhawan’s Instagram post in which he meets Zoravar after a long time:

Dhawan had taken time off from cricket following his divorce. He wasn’t selected in the T20 World Cup squad despite a brilliant show in the IPL 2021. He led a second-string Indian side to Sri Lanka for white-ball matches.

The left-hander was part of the recent ODI series against West Indies. He however missed the first two ODIs of the series after testing positive for covid-19. He recovered and returned to play in the third ODI, but managed only 10 runs.

Before that he hit two fifties in 3 matches in South Africa. Dhawan remains India’s first-choice opener alongside Rohit Sharma in ODIs and is likely to be until at least the 2023 World Cup that will be hosted by India.

He will next be seen in action during the IPL 2022 – playing for his new franchise, Punjab Kings. Punjab bought the services of the senior opener for 8.25 crore at the mega-auction, after he was released by Delhi Capitals. Dhawan is also in contention to be the captain of Punjab; Mayank Agarwal, who was retained after KL Rahul left the franchise, is another captaincy candidate.
