Veteran opener and stand-in skipper for the ongoing 3-match ODI series against West Indies — Shikhar Dhawan put up a stellar knock to give team India a flying start in the third and final ODI match at the Queen’s Park Oval on Wednesday.

This was the second time that Dhawan and Gil scored a 100-run partnership in the series, the duo added 113 runs for the opening stand. Shikhar Dhawan registered his 37th half-century in ODI cricket, scoring 58 runs in the 23rd over of the Indian innings.

Dhawan Shattered MS Dhoni’s Record

With this stunning knock, MS Dhoni’s feat of scoring 29 fifty-plus scores away from Asia. Batting maestro Virat Kohli is currently leading the list by scoring the most 50+ ODI scores by an Indian batter outside Asia.

Talking about Dhawan’s knock, he scored 58 runs off 74 balls and as many as seven fours arrived in his gritty knock. After Dhawan was dismissed, Shubman Gill continued with his brilliant as Shreyas Iyer joined an in-form Gill at the crease.

Just when team India looked keen on setting up a challenging total in the 3rd ODI, rain gods made their presence felt in Trinidad. Dhawan-led team India reached 115 runs for 1 against West Indies in 24 overs before the rain stopped the play in the 3rd ODI.

However, after the game resumed, the Indian side made a stunning comeback into the game and won the third ODI against West Indies by 119 runs.
