Shikhar Dhawan Speaks On His Love Affair With Champions Trophy

Becoming the fastest batsman to score 100 runs in ICC ODI tournaments, Shikhar Dhawan broke Sachin’s records and that’s not the only thing that keeps him in the limelight.

Dhawan getting selected for this year’s Champion’s Trophy Tournament was a big news in itself for him and his fans as before that he was going through a rough patch in his career. His selection was rewarded with many questions from his haters and just as we know, a sports person can give the best of his answers when on field, similarly Shikhar Dhawan too slammed his haters with his kick-ass performance.

Known for performing at bigger platform, Shikhar continued his love affair with ICC tournaments as he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record and became the fastest batsman to score 1000 runs in ICC ODI tournaments.

Above this, the achievement was seen to be an extra-ordinary one because he achieved this feat during India’s must-win game against the South Africans at the Oval on June 11.

Recalling the moment of pride when Sachin registered this feat, he took 18 innings to cross 1000 run mar in ICC tournaments and now Shikhar did the same but he took 16 innings.

Along with this, Shikhar Dhwan also equaled Sourav Ganguly’s record for the most number of 50+ scores in ICC tournaments. Moreover, he also made a world ICC record of getting most number of consecutive 50+ scores in ICC tournaments.

This seems like a saga of victories for our left-handed batsman!

From being the most reliable batsman of Indian Cricket Team to the one with short and perfect answers, Dhawan has it all.

When he was asked about his love affair with ICC, this is how he replied:

For those who think, he sounded like a blabber mouth, here are his records which justify his statement.

  1. He crossed the 500-run mark in Champions Trophy history when he completed his ton against Sri Lanka
  2. He has 5 centuries to his name, in ICC tournaments
  3. Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma became the first Indian pair to register three consecutive 100-run partnerships after the duo added 138-run together against the Sri Lankans in this year’s Champions Trophy.
