Shoaib Akhtar Made A Controversial Statement For New Zealand Cricket

Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar has been making a lot of news lately, however, for all the wrong and controversial reasons. After his failed attempts to take India down with his insensitive remarks, he was after the New Zealand cricket team last night.

Babar Azam-led side has shown a lot of hunger for going all the way as they defeated arch-rivals in their first match, which was also their first victory against India in any World Cup event (record of 29 years). Last night, the Pakistan cricket team also defeated the New Zealand cricket team by 5 wickets.

However, as the New Zealand cricket team kickstarted their campaign in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021 with a match against Pakistan, Shoaib Akhtar started taking sly digs at the Kiwis even before the game began.

He took to his Twitter and took a cheeky dig on Kiwis and said that the New Zealand cricketers may ask for the match to be called off due to much noise inside the stadium if not security concerns. He wrote:

“I request all Pakistan fans to remain silent and not enjoy too extravagantly. There is every chance that New Zealand may ask for the match to be called off due to too much noise inside the stadium, if not for security concerns. #T20WorldCup ?”

Later, as Pakistan’s bowlers gave a hard time to the Kiwi batters, Akhtar took to his Twitter again and took a dig at New Zealand cricketers by writing that they might need security inside the ground now. He wrote:

I think today NZ needs security inside the ground.”

For the unversed, Akhtar’s remarks came out as a retaliation against New Zealand cricketers as they had abandoned their tour to Pakistan hours before the first match recently, citing a security threat which, as per Pakistan never existed.

Kiwis pulling out of the series because of the threats they received eventually hampered the World Cup preparations of Pakistan, which took a further hit after England too decided to withdraw from the tour.
