Shoaib Akhtar Points Out The Reason Why India Lost The ODI Series

Shoaib Akhtar Points Out The Reason Why India Lost The ODI Series: India lost their first ODI series on Saturday since the World Cup 2019 after New Zealand won the first two matches of the ongoing three-match ODI series. The Blackcaps came out with a lot of aggression after getting whitewashed in the 5-match T20I series.

After India’s thumping win in the T20I series, fans were hoping that would carry their form in the ODI series but it turned out to be a different story altogether. New Zealand got their act together for the ODIs and surprised Team India and their fans by winning the first two matches convincingly.

Former Pakistan cricketer and one of the best fast bowlers in the history of the game, Shoaib Akhtar has said that India took things too lightly and lacked the killer instinct. Talking on his Youtube Channel, Akhtar said that “India deserved this lesson” because they played poor cricket. Akhtar said that India are missing a strike bowler in the ODI format.

“India deserved this lesson. You cannot win ODIs by playing such poor cricket. No one had an answer to Taylor’s innings. I don’t understand how you can let the game slip from reducing the opposition to 7-8 down. I’m repeatedly saying India are missing a strike bowler. Chahal came in place of Kuldeep, he did well but they lacked someone who could put his hand up when they needed wickets,” Shoaib Akhtar said on his Youtube channel.

Akhtar also said that India looked like a very average side and he gave credit to New Zealand for bouncing back after a demoralizing defeat in the T20Is.

“India looked like a very average side today. But Credit to New Zealand for coming back so strong after 0-5 loss in T20IS. That type of loss can be demoralizing for any team but they have made a solid comeback. This is a learning curve for India, they need to show character,” Shoaib Akhtar further added.
