Shoaib Akhtar Reminded Babar Azam Of His Nightmare

Sri Lanka triumphed against Pakistan in the final clash of the Asia Cup 2022 final to lift their 6th trophy. Sri Lanka dominated the game right from the beginning and made it difficult for the Babar Azam-led side throughout their 172-run chase and turned the screws in the last four overs. Though Pakistan made a brilliant start as they picked back-to-back wickets to leave Sri Lanka reeling at  67/5 after the first 10 overs. However, Sri Lanka made a blockbuster comeback to take away the title.

Meanwhile, the tournament turned out to be a terrible nightmare for Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who was seen struggling to score runs. He finished his Asia Cup 2022 campaign with a total of 68 runs, which was unexpected from the superstar batter.

Before the start of Asia Cup 2022, Babar Azam was the number 1 batter in the format till Mohammad Rizwan took over his ranking courtesy of Rizwan’s brilliant form in the same tournament. In the final match of Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lankan posted a total of 170 runs and Pakistan kickstarted their innings with the usual opening combination of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan. However, in the very first over of the Pakistan innings, Babar Azam was caught at short fine-leg after he flicked the left-arm pacer inside the powerplay. Babar Azam once again failed to make it big with the bat and was dismissed after scoring just 5 runs off the 6 balls he faced.

After his dismissal, Babar Azam was trolled mercilessly with hilarious memes and jokes on social media. After Pakistan’s defeat, legendary Pak bowler Shoaib Akhtar also took to his social media and reminded Babar of his nightmarish campaign in the tournament. He also slammed Fakhar Zaman, who also failed to leave a mark with the bat. He wrote:

“That ends a nightmare tournament for Babar as a batter. Same disaster for Fakhar.”
