Steve Smith, the Australian skipper has redefined consistency in Test cricket with his unbelievable batting exploits. His back-to-back power-packed performances have left the world in awe of him.
The fact that it took Steve only a couple of Test matches to regain his number one rank despite his one year ban defines his dedication, passion, and consistency towards the game.
Steve made his comeback to Test cricket this summer through the Ashes and he turned out to be better than any other cricketer in the series. The right-handed batsman scored more than 330 runs despite not playing three innings. By the end of the series, Smith had smashed three centuries, three fifties and 774 runs at an average of more than 110.
Steve Smith is just brilliant and the one question that put every cricketer wondering is ‘how to dominate Smith?’. That’s the reason why every bowler around the world is desperate enough to find ways to dismiss Smith.
When the same question was asked to the former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar, he came up with his own idea. Shoaib Akhtar was quoted as saying by Pakistan journalist Saj Sadiq. He said:
“Steve Smith has no technique or style but he has bravery. If he was playing in my time, I would have definitely tried to hit him and I would have tried to hurt him. But it’s impossible to hurt this guy, he’s playing so well, he’s one of a kind.”
