Shubman Gill Shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s Record With His Maiden Century vs Zimbabwe

Ever since he made his debut for the Indian cricket team, Shubman Gill has been touted as a special talent. Right from his under-19 days, Shubman’s shot selection, his technique, and his calm approach made him a fan favorite. While he impressed everyone with his stunning performances, a century from his match was much-awaited. And after a long wait, Shubman finally brought an end to his century drought on Monday.

Gill registered his maiden international century on Monday during the India vs Zimbabwe third and final ODI match at the Harare Cricket Ground. Shubman Gill reached the milestone in just 82 balls as he inspired the Men in Blue to a series whitewash against Zimbabwe.

Before coming into the final ODI match against Zimbabwe, Shubman Gill had scored four half-centuries in Tests and three in ODIs. On Monday, he finally scored his maiden international century.

Shubman Gill Shattered Sachin Tendulkar’s Record

Gill played a stunning knock of 130 runs off 97 balls. His knock laced with 15 fours and a six. Gill’s stunning knock helped him in breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing knock of the highest individual score for India in ODIs in Zimbabwe. For the unversed, it was in 1998, when Tendulkar had scored 127* against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo. Now Gill is the proud owner of this record.

Apart from this, Gill also surpassed r Rohit Sharma, who is not part of the series, in the list of youngest Indian batters to score an overseas century.
