Young Indian opener Shubman Gill has become one of the most talked about cricketers off-lately, courtesy to his incredible performances. Recently, he attained his career-best 25th position in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings.
Though, Shubman registered four single-digit scores in the 5-match series, however, the rise in his rankings came on the back of his amazing performance in the fourth match of the series. Batting alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill added a record 165 runs with the left-handed batter, which is also the joint-highest opening partnership for India in the T20I format.
Shubman rose 43 places in the T20I rankings despite poor outings in the West Indies T20I series. Prior to this, Gill’s best ranking in the format was the 30th position, which he attained in February 2023. Apart from Shubman Gill, his opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal, with whom he added 165 runs in the fourth match, has also made rapid progress. Jaiswal has reached 88th position for his ‘player of the match’ effort of 84 not out off 51 deliveries in the fourth T20I.
Shubman Gill is currently on a much-deserving break. He has been rested for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland which will start on Friday (August 18).
