The buzz around the auctions and all the exciting anticipation about them are now over. Teams have built their rosters and for that, they have spent stacks of money. But just because franchises spent stacks of money would they be called smart buyers?

We bring you the smartest purchases made by all franchises in the IPL 2018 auctions. By smartest purchases, we mean high utility players at the lowest possible costs.

HERE IS THE LIST OF SMARTEST PURCHASES BY ALL TEAMS IN THE IPL AUCTIONS
1. Delhi Daredevils

Delhi Daredevils will be patting their backs after getting a dangerous T20 player for just 1.9 crores. Yes, we are talking about Colin Munro who would feel that he remained underpriced in the auctions.

Given what Colin Munro can do and the very modest price Delhi paid for him, he is surely the best and the smartest buy for Delhi in the IPL 2018 auctions.

2. Royal Challengers Bangalore

The RCB already had Virat Kohli and Ab De Villiers in their arsenal. They also got themselves Quinton De Cock and Brendon McCullum to add to the woes of the bowlers. They did a very smart thing by getting the best available wicketkeeper-batsman for just 2.8 crores.

Quinton De Cock is the smartest buy for RCB. KKR had to spend as much as 7.4 crores to get a wicketkeeper-batsman in Dinesh Karthik. Seeing this RCB would feel they played smartly.

3. Mumbai Indians

The defending champions might not have made a lot of spectacular purchases in the auctions but they got themselves a champion bowler. Pat Cummins is the best buy for Mumbai Indians.

While Starc went for 9.4 crores, Jaydev Unadkat for 11.5 crores and Jofra Archer went for over 7 crores, MI would feel glad to have Pat Cummins come their way for just 5.4 crores.

4. Sunrisers Hyderabad

They had already retained two great limited overs players in David Warner and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. They also got for them the services of Kane Williamson and Shikhar Dhawan. SRH also made two heavy purchases in Manish Pandey (11cr) and Rashid Khan (9 Cr).

But who is the best buy for SRH? Carlos Brathwaite is the best buy for SRH. They got the star all-rounder for just 2 crores and they must be feeling good about it. Carlos Brathwaite is a very high utility player.

5. Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR too made a lot of spectacular purchases in the auctions. They got Mitchel Starc for 9.4 crores, Chris Lynn for 9.6 crores, Dinesh Karthik for 7.4 crores and Kuldeep Yadav for 5.5 crores.

But their best buy is Kamlesh Nagarkoti, the most sought-after player from India’s Under 19 pool. To get Kamlesh Nagarkoti for 3.2 crores was a smart move.

6. Chennai Super Kings

They made strange purchases in the auctions as the went after senior players. CSK ignored young talents and ended up building a roster out of senior players.

Their smartest buy is Lungi Ngidi, the young revolution in the making. While other spent crores to get world class bowler, the CSK got Lungi Ngidi for just 50 lakhs.

7. Rajasthan Royals

Ben Stokes came with a huge price tag for RR and so did Jaydev Unadkat. These aren’t sure the smartest purchases by the Rajasthan Royals. Even getting the uncapped Jofra Archer for over 7 crores did not make much sense.

But buying a handsome wicket-keeper batsman in Joss Buttler for 4.4 crores was surely a smart buy. Buttler is the smartest purchase of RR which otherwise did a lot of irrational spending at the auctions.

8. Kings XI Punjab

Getting Yuvraj for just 2 crores was the smartest purchase the Kings XI made. Yuvraj’s potentials are too high for such a modest price byt Kings XI Punjab got him for just 2 crores. This is unargubly the best buy of the Kings XI Punjab.
