Three years ago the world of cricket was shocked by a very unfortunate tragedy. It was 27 November 2014 when a 25-year-old young cricketer died on the cricket field.

Yes, we are talking about Phil Hughes, the late Australian cricketer who died after being hit on the head in a first-class game at Sydney. The incident was shocking and sent jitters all across the world of cricket.

Today on his 3rd Death Anniversary, Phil Hughes was remembered by his teammates and they seemed quite emotional about it. Of course, losing a teammate has always been painful and this pain reflected in how the Aussie cricketers expressed their tribute and sorrow about the very unfortunate demise of a young Phil Hughes.

He was playing for South Australia which was playing against New South Wales and Hughes collapsed after a fierce bouncer hit the side of his head. He collapsed immediately, was taken to the hospital but had already lost the battle of life.

The Aussie skipper, Steve Smith was a close friend of Phil Hughes and Smith took to Twitter to express his love and grief upon the demise of his good friend. In the emotional Tweet, Smith wrote, “Three years have past but I still miss you #408.” Clearly, the Aussie Captain misses his friend.

England’s Barmy Army also did its bit by paying a classy tribute to the former player on the fifth day of the first Ashes Test between Australia and England.
