Well, in the presser, Virat Kohli refused the claims of BCCI president Sourav Ganguly regarding the captaincy shift by clarifying that he was not been spoken to previously about the change of captaincy and was informed only 90 minutes before the decision was announced by the chief of the selection committee Chetan Sharma. He had said:

“Whatever was said about the communication that happened about the decision that was made was inaccurate. I was contacted one-and-a-half hours before the selection meeting on December 8 for the Test series and there was no prior communication to me at all since I announced my decision on T20I captaincy.”

“When I left the T20I captaincy, I had first approached BCCI and intimated them of my decision and laid down my point of view in front of them (office bearers). I gave the reasons why I wanted to quit T20 captaincy and my view point was received very nicely. There was no offence, no hesitation and not for once was I told that ‘you should not leave T20 captaincy’,” added Kohli.

Sourav Ganguly Finally Responds To Virat Kohli’s Statements

Now with Virat Kohli directly contradicting Ganguly’s statement, both Virat and the BCCI President have faced a lot of heat over the last 24 hours. While several people slammed Virat Kohli for making a huge deal in front of the media, on the other hand, several prominent members of the Indian cricket fraternity have asked him to clear the air.

Speaking to News18, Sourav Ganguly finally broke his silence on the matter and has made his first statement since Kohli’s comments. However, Sourav Ganguly has clearly refused that he will not make any additional comments and the matter will be dealt with by the board.

I have no comments, we will deal with it appropriately, leave it to the BCCI”.

With both Virat and Ganguly directly contradicting each other in public, it won’t be wrong to say that everything is not right in Indian cricket right now.
