The whole world is fighting against the coronavirus and the Government of India has also announced a 21-day complete lockdown in the nation. As a result, the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also likely to get canceled this year. Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) President Mr. Sourav Ganguly gave an exclusive interview to the PTI and said that he is not in a position to affirmatively say anything at the moment.

Talking to PTI, Sourav Ganguly said that the status quo remains the same as nothing has changed in the last 10 days as far as coronavirus is concerned.

“I can’t say anything at the moment. We are at the same place where we were on the day we postponed. Nothing has changed in the last 10 days. So, I don’t have an answer to it. Status quo remains,” Sourav Ganguly told PTI.

The BCCI president said that the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP) cannot be changed and hence there was no chance of planning anything at all.

“You can’t plan anything. The FTP is scheduled. It”s there and you can’t change the FTP. All around the world, cricket, and more so sports have stopped,” Sourav Ganguly said.

Dada was also asked about the money that the BCCI and other stakeholders will lose if IPL 2020 is abandoned.

“I am not sure whether you can get insurance money. Because this is a government lockdown. I am not sure whether a government lockdown is covered by insurance or not,” Sourav Ganguly said.

“We will have to see. We have not assessed all these things. At this point in time, it is very difficult for me to give any concrete answer,” he added.

The BCCI is not giving a concrete reply on the future of IPL 2020 but considering the current scenario, there is no chance that the tournament will be played.
