Sourav Ganguly Paid An Emotional Tribute To ‘His Hero’ Diego Maradona

On Wednesday, the World woke up with the heartbreaking news of the demise of one of the greatest sportspersons of all time Diego Maradona. Former Indian skipper and current President of the BCCI, Mr. Sourav Ganguly paid an emotional tribute to the football legend Diego Maradona.

Diego Maradona, who is regarded as of the greatest footballers of all time, died of a heart attack at the age of 60 in Argentina on Wednesday. The World Cup-winning captain suffered a heart attack, having undergone brain surgery earlier this month, a member of his entourage told AFP.

Maradona was famed for the ‘Hand of God’ goal, the Argentine soccer captivated fans over a two-decade career with his bewitching style of play that was all his own.

As soon as the news of his demise came out, social media was abuzz with posts and tweets dedicated to the iconic player. The Cricket fraternity also took to their social media and paid tributes to the legend.

Sourav Ganguly, the former Indian skipper and current President of the BCCI, also took to his Twitter and paid tributes to Maradona. In his tweet, he shared a picture of himself with the late legend and hailed Maradona as his hero. He also revealed that Maradona was the reason he watched football. He wrote:

“My hero no more ..my mad genius rest in peace ..I watched football for you..”

Sachin Tendulkar, the legendary batsman also took to his twitter and expressed how the world of sports has lost one of its greatest gems. He wrote:

“Football and the world of sports has lost one of its greatest players today. Rest in Peace Diego Maradona! You shall be missed,”
